Ruined basket - Kaputtes Nest

Der Tag hat so schön gemütlich angefangen - mit Kerzenschein, Walnüssen und einem Lupinenkaffee...

The day started off so cosily - with candlelight, walnuts and a lupins coffee...

 

 

 

... und einem Obstteller als Frühstück, den Mumpel sich gemacht hat.

... and a fruit plate for breakfast that Mumpel made for herself.

 

 

 

Doch dann hat Cookie eine langweilige Phase bekommen und zuerst ihr Nest mit dem Kopf herumgedreht und dann angefangen, so lange auf dem Boden des Nests herumzuwühlen, bis sie ein Loch rein gemacht... 

 

But then Cookie must have gotten bored because she flipped her basket around with her head and then she dug with her feet until she made a hole into it and...

 

 

 

 

... und den größten Teil der Watte aus dem Boden herausgekramt hat.

... took out all the cotton wool out of it. 

 

 

 

Jetzt schämt sie sich.

Now she's ashamed of herself.

 

Mumpel hat ein kleines bisschen mit ihr geschimpft, weil sie das schon mehrmals gemacht hat und Mumpel ihr jedes Mal das Nest wieder zusammengenäht hat. Naja, es war wohl kein schlimmes Schimpfen, denn kurz darauf, (nach erneutem Nähen), sassen sie wieder einträglich nebeneinander auf der Couch. 

Mumpel got a bit angry at Cookie because Cookie did that more than once before and Mumpel always sewed her basket afterwards. Well, she wasn't too angry, after a while (and some sewing) they both sat on the couch next to each other again being friends.

 

 

 

Dann habe ich noch die Schafgarbe eingepflanzt...

I put the yarrow into the soil in the garden...

 

 

 

 

... und auch den Beinwell und die Wilde Karde (der Beinwell sieht aber jetzt nicht mehr so schön aus, weil die Pflanze schon langsam in Winterschlaf geht und die Blätter braun werden).

... and comfrey and wild teasel as well (they both don't look nice anymore at this time of year with their leaves changing into brown slowly but surely). 

 

 

 

Auf unserem Spaziergang haben wir dann noch eine Stelle ganz in der Nähe gefunden, wo man Esskastanien sammeln kann! Wir hatten ja vor einem Jahr überlegt, ob wir uns eine in den Garten pflanzen sollen aber ich bin ganz froh, dass wir das nicht gemacht haben. Die Baumkrone und die großen Blätter gefallen mir gar nicht mehr. Die Früchte aber schon. :-)

When going for a walk we found a place in the neighbourhood where sweet chestnuts grow. We took some home. A year ago when planning the new garden we thought of planting a tree with sweet chestnuts but I am now glad we didn't. I don't really like the look of the treetop and its leaves but of course we do like the fruits of the tree.

 

 

Auf dem Rückweg haben wir die Kraniche weg in den Süden fliegen sehen.

On the way back we saw the cranes flying away to the south for winter.
