Our week - Unsere Woche

Unsere Reise durch das antike Griechenland geht weiter. Troja ist besiegt und wir begleiten seit dieser Woche nun Odysseus auf seinem langen Weg in die Heimat zurück. 

We are still travelling through ancient Greece. Troy has been defeated and since a couple of days we accompany Odysseus on his long journey towards home. 

 

Wir üben das kleine Einmaleins mit Hilfe dieser Karten und jeder Menge Nüssen und Kastanien. Bis auf ein paar wenige Aufgaben sitzt es jetzt. Mit den Karten, die wir immer auf einen Stapel "kann ich" und einen Stapel "muss ich nochmal üben" sortiert haben, ging es deutlich schneller und leichter, als alle Reihen vom Blatt zu lernen. Den Stapel, der noch nicht so gut funktionierte, haben wir uns dann nochmal vorgenommen.

We are practicing multiplication tables using these cards I made and a whole bunch of walnuts and chestnuts. We sort the cards onto two stacks, one for "I know this one" and one for "I have to practice this again". Then we go through the ones that didn't work out once more. This way learning the multiplication tables went a lot faster than just reading all the numbers from a piece of paper.

Mumpel stellt gerade ihr Knüpfkissen fertig. Es fehlt nur noch eine Reihe, dann können wir das Kissen zusammennähen.

Bei den Pferden waren wir natürlich auch, wie in jeder Woche. Mit Toby sind wir im Wald spazieren gegangen. Reiten auf ihm ist im Moment schwierig weil er wegen der Kälte wahnsinnig schnell unterwegs ist und gerne mal losspurtet und man dann leicht runterfallen kann. 

Like in each week we have been to the stable. We went for a walk through the forest with Toby instead of riding because due to the cold weather he falls into a a very fast gallopp and Mumpel was afraid to fall off. 

 

Auch die Shetties haben wir besucht und Mumpel und ihre Freundin haben wieder den kleinen Kindern geholfen, sie zu pflegen und sind mit ihnen spazieren gegangen. 

We visited the Shetties and Mumpel and her friend helped the little kids again and showed them how to take care of horses. Afterwards they went for a walk with the kids and the shetties. 

Abends setze ich mich immer hin und male in meinem Jahreszeitenbuch. Der September und der Oktober sind nun fertig gestellt und beinhalten Rezepte, gemalte Bilder, Gedichte und ein Tagebuch mit unseren Aktivitäten. 

Each night I sit and draw in my seasonal book. September and October are done now and I put in recipes for fall, pictures I drew as well as poems and a diary with all our daily activities.

 Auch im Garten geht es weiterhin voran. Wege und Beete sind jetzt zu erkennen. 

More process was made in the garden. Ways and flower beds are structured now.

Iliad and more horse pictures - Ilias und noch mehr Pferdebilder

Inzwischen sind wir in dem Buch "Schwarze Schiffe vor Troja" von Rosemary Sutcliff beim vorletzten Kapitel angekommen. Gleichzeitig haben wir angefangen, die Ilias von Auguste Lechner zu lesen, die nochmal ganz anders und ausführlicher in verständlichen Bildern geschrieben ist. 

Meanwhile we are almost done with reading Rosemary Sutcliffs "Black ships before Troy". At the same time we have started reading the Iliad written by Auguste Lechner, who describes the fight for Troy in a complete other way - she goes more into detail and creates pictures while reading.

Mumpel hat sich wieder mit ihrer Freundin bei den Shetties getroffen. Sie sind zusammen ausgeritten, nachdem sie gestern beim Kinderclub der Shetties den kleinen Kindern geholfen haben. 

Mumpel met her friend again at the stable and they went through the fields with the Shetties again after they yesterday helped at the Shetty kids club for small children.

Draußen auf dem Platz geht es los - im Galopp über den Platz und ab ins Feld. Vorne auf ihrem Helm sitzt Mumpels GoPro, damit filmt sie den Galopp.

Off they go - galopping through the riding arena towards the fields. On her helmet Mumpel has a GoPro camera so she can take little films of riding.

Wer braucht schon Arme und Hände beim reiten? :-)

Die Terrasse ist versiegelt worden. Wir dürfen sie nun drei Tage lang nicht betreten damit die Fugen aushärten können. 

Our porch has been sealed. We are not to step onto it for three days now so the sealing can dry off.
