Nibelungen and pancakes - Siegfried, Krimhild und Pfannkuchen

Wir haben die Nibelungen zwar zuende gelesen, doch wir haben uns dazu entschlossen, noch eine Zusammenfassung zu schreiben, damit nicht alles, was wir gelesen haben, so schnell in Vergessenheit gerät. Mumpel hat ein Epochenheft dazu angelegt. 

A couple of days ago we finished reading in the Nibelungen but we have decided to write a little essay about each chapter so we won't forget what we read too fast. :-)

In den letzten Tagen ist bei uns nicht viel Aufregendes passiert. Wir waren viel daheim, weil das Wetter wirklich schlecht ist für Mai. Auch zu den Pferden fahren wir regelmäßig. Die Kinder sind mittlerweile eine echte Hilfe beim Kochen. Hier werden gerade Pfannkuchen gemacht, die wir mit frischem Obst essen. Rob und Mumpel machen sie ohne Ei und ohne Kuhmilch, dafür nehmen sie ein wenig Backpulver und Reismilch.

Nothing much happened during the last days. We spent much time at home because the weather is really bad at the time. It is cold and rainy, not very nice for may. We have been out to visit the horses regularly which both kids love. Rob and Mumpel are a great help when it comes to preparing meals. They are making pancakes which we eat with fresh fruit. The kids make them without eggs and without regular milk. Instead they use a bit of baking soda and rice milk.

Colored pencils - Buntstifte

Es regnet in einer Tour, schon seit Tagen. Die wenigen und kurzen Phasen wenn der Regen mal aufhört und die Sonne für ein paar Minuten rauskommt reichen einfach nicht, um draußen etwas zu unternehmen. Der April macht eben was er will - im Zweifel leert er die Wolken über uns. :-) Wir sind also viel zu Hause und haben heute dafür gesorgt, dass wir wieder weitermalen können. Sämtliche Stifte bedurften mal wieder einer Überholung.

It rains and rains and rains - the weather has been like this for days. We have only very short periods of rain free, maybe even sunny times during the day and that's never enough time to spend a lot of time outside. The month of april just does what he wants - and he empties all of the rainy clouds over us this year it seems. :-) This means we are at home a lot. Today we sharpened all our colored pencils so we can draw on. Drawing is one of the things we do a lot. 
 

Ihr seht bei uns wird alles aufgehoben und bloss kein Stift so schnell weggeschmissen. Mit diesen Ministiften malen die Kinder besonders gern. - As you can see we almost never throw any pencils away. The kids like drawing with these miniature pencils.

Ich habe mich an einer Tulpe versucht, ab und zu male ich auch ganz gern - I tried to draw a tulip, sometimes I do like to do a little drawing

Die Bücher die wir drei im Moment lesen - Books we read at the time

Mumpel und ich haben heute die Nibelungen beendet. Wir haben das Buch kapitelweise gelesen und danach darüber gesprochen um behalten zu können, worüber gelesen wurde. Manches ist gar nicht so leicht zu verstehen und wird erst im Gespräch klar.

Rob liest derzeit das Buch "Das Seelenleben der Tiere", das er zu Weihnachten geschenkt bekommen hat und liest außerdem noch im Graf von Monte Christo, zu dem er eine Buchvorstellung schreibt. Ich schmökere in meinem Gartenbuch von Wolf-Dieter Storl. 

Today Mumpel and I finished reading the book of the Nibelungen. We read one chapter and then talked about what happened in the chapter. Some things aren't easy to understand and only get clear when they are talked through. 

Rob is reading a nature book about the souls of the animals. He got it for christmas. He's also reads on in the book of Monte Christo which he is doing a book presenation for. I am reading my gardening book written by a german author Wolf-Dieter Storl.
 

Mumpel hat sich diese bemalbare Wolkenlampe gekauft und schläft jetzt besser ein als vorher, wie sie sagt.

Mumpel purchased this little lamp. It's a cloud and you can draw onto it. She says she sleeps a lot better now. :-)

Kinderbücherschrank - Childrens bookshelf

 

 

 

Vor einiger Zeit hatten wir das Bedürfnis, für unsere Unmengen an Büchern, einen Schrank zu bauen. Ich hatte die Bücher vorher auf Regalen im Wohnzimmer und so häufig wie wir nach Büchern greifen und sie wieder zurücklegen sah es im Regal immer völlig unordentlich aus. Das mochte ich nicht mehr im Wohnzimmer sehen. Rob hat dann unter Anleitung seines Vaters fast komplett alleine eine Schrankwand aus weißem Holz mit Türen davor gebaut. Zusammen haben sie den Schrank eingepasst und nun haben wir eine wunderbare Aufbewahrung für all die vielen Kinder- und Jugendbücher.

Wir sammeln Bücher, zumindest diejenigen, die wir gerne gelesen haben. Ich finde es immernoch schöner, ein Buch zu lesen als am Smartphone oder am Kindle zu lesen. Da geht für mich absolut das Lesegefühl verloren. Geht Dir das auch so oder macht es für Dich keinen Unterschied ob Buch oder Kindle?

A while ago we had the idea to build a cupboard for our books. Before we had all of our books on shelves in the living room but it always looked like a total mess in the shelves because we use our books quite often and nobody ever bothered putting them in correctly. I didn't want that in the living room anymore. Rob then built a big cupboard with doors in front of it out of white wood for us. Thomas helped him and explained a few things but he built it almost completely by himself. They fitted it into our room and now we have a lot of storage for all these many books we have. 

We collect books, well, at least the ones that we enjoyed reading. I still like it much better to read a real book rather than reading on a smartphone or kindle. It's just not the same feeling. Do you feel the same or doesn't it make any difference to you wether you read on a device or a real book?

Unser derzeitiges Vorlesebuch - Our reading book at the time

Wir haben den Kindern immer viel vorgelesen, anfangs Kinderbücher und jetzt, wo sie älter werden, lesen wir Jugendliteratur. Rob ist aus dem Alter raus und liest lieber alleine für sich. Er hat sich den Graf von Monte Christo als Lektüre ausgesucht und wird dazu eine Buchvorstellung machen. Mit Mumpel lese ich immernoch zusammen. Mal lese ich vor, mal liest sie vor. Derzeit lesen wir ein Buch von Auguste Lechner, die in meinen Augen die Geschichte für Jugendliche sehr schön und ausführlich, aber nicht langweilig, beschreibt. Wir haben vor ein paar Tagen mit den Nibelungen angefangen.

We have always read a lot to our kids, children's books in the beginning and now, as they grow older, we read youth literature. Rob rather reads for himself, he doesn't want to be part of our reading sessions anymore which is totally ok for us. He has chosen "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas for his next reading book and he will do a book presentation as soon as he is done with it. I still do read with Mumpel and she still likes that. We read together, I read a part and then she reads onother part. At the time we read a book written by Auguste Lechner. She is a great author for history, she writes for older children and in my opinion she describes history for kids in detail but never boring so its a pleasure to read it. A couple of days ago we've started to read the first story of this book, the Nibelungen.

Das Exemplar ist schon etwas älter, ich habe es schon lange Jahre. Der Graf von Monte Christo ist auf hauchdünnem Papier geschrieben und besteht aus zwei Bänden - I've had this book for very long years, it is quite old and the paper it is written on is very thin so it has a lot of pages and there are two of these books

Cookie ist soooo müde - Cookie is soooo tired

Heute musste Cookie zum Tierarzt, das hat Thomas zum Glück gemacht. Sie hat immer ganz viel Angst und ich habe das beim letzten Mal kaum ausgehalten, den armen Hund die ganze Zeit in Panik zu erleben. Aber es half nichts, sie ließ sich von uns nicht die Krallen schneiden, also mussten wir das machen lassen. Anschließend hat sie sich selbst in ihrem Körbchen zugedeckt und drei Stunden am Stück geschlafen.

Today Cookie had an appointment at the vet and I was so happy to find Thomas go there with her. She is always so very afraid at the vet and the last time I went there with her I found it quite hard to see her in a panic the whole time we spent there. It didn't help though - she had to get her claws cut but she wouldn't let us do it so we had to have the vet do it. After she returned home she cuddled up in her box and went to sleep for three hours. 

Wer guckt denn hier am Auto rein? - Who's this looking into my car?

Eine kleine Blaumeise schaute vor ein paar Tagen bei mir ins Auto, als ich gerade losfahren wollte. Der Piepmatz hatte überhaupt keine Angst und blieb richtig lange sitzen.

A little bluetit looked into my car when I just wanted to leave. It wasn't afraid at all and sat there for a couple of minutes so I had the chance to take a picture of him. 

Bei uns gibt es jetzt einen kleinen Nachmittags-Snack. Ein paar Haferflocken mit Johannisbeeren, Banane und Mandeln. Ich wünsche Euch noch einen schönen Tag. Bis zum nächsten Mal,
