Weihnachtsbäckerei und Dekoration

Die diesjährige Weihnachtsbäckerei hat eröffnet. Wir haben außer diesen Lebkuchen-Engeln noch Spekulatius gebacken und Bethmännchen, sowie Kokosmakronen und Haselnussmakronen. Jetzt muss ich nur noch aufpassen, dass an Weihnachten nicht schon alles weggefuttert ist. 

 

Christmas bakery has opened. So far we've baked ginger angels an speculoo, marzipan almond cookies, coconut and hazelnut macaroons. The one thing I have to do from now on is watch that all the cookies will still be there around christmas.

Zwischendurch waren wir mit Cookie wieder in der Hundeschule. Wie man sieht genießt sie lieber den sonnigen Wintertag, statt mitzumachen. 

Inbetween baking we went to training with Cookie but she rather wants to take a sunbath in the winter sun instead of doing training.

Wir haben den Baum aufgestellt und geschmückt und ebenso die Wichtel. Wer sieht den Wichtel, der da eigentlich nicht dazugehört?

Put up our tree and decorated it and put the chrismas gnoms up. Who can see the one gnome not fitting in?

Nordsee - North Sea

Heute habe ich jede Menge Bilder von der Nordsee für Euch, wir haben uns nämlich vor Kurzem eine kleine Auszeit gegönnt ein paar Tage am Wattenmeer verbracht. 

 

Today I have quite a few pictures from the North Sea for you. We took a trip to the Wadden Sea just to get out for a couple of days. 

 

 

 

Der Leuchtturm steht auf dem Deich, dahinter ist ein kleines Wäldchen und vorne fangen die endlosen Salzwiesen an, die zum Strand führen. 

 

This Lighthouse stands in front of a little forest. In the other way the salt meadows begin that lead to the beach. 

 

 

 

 

Cookie war natürlich auch mit und damit ihr nicht kalt wird, hatte sie einen Strickpulli an. 

Of course Cookie was with us, wearing a cardigan so she wouldn't freeze.

Wir hatten Glück und immerhin ein paar sonnige Tage.

We were lucky to have at least a couple sunny days. 

 

 

 

Nach allem, was dieses Jahr so passiert ist, mussten wir dringend mal einen Ortswechsel haben. 

After all that happened this year we needed a break from every day life. 

Nach längerem Spaziergang taucht hinter den Salzwiesen endlich das Meer auf. 

After a rather long walk through the salt meadows we finally reach the sand and the ocean. 

 

 

 

 

In diesen Pfahlbauten am Strand befinden sich Restaurants. Man konnte sogar draußen sitzen, es gab Heizstrahler, damit es nicht so kalt war. 

 

These houses in the sand are restaurants and we were even able to sit outside without getting cold as they had heaters all over the porch.

Mumpel war am Strand reiten und fand es toll. Das ist Andy. 

Mumpel did horseback riding at the beach and loved it. 

 

 

 

 

Ein Mädchentraum ist in Erfüllung gegangen und sie hat auch noch so ein wahnsinniges Glück mit dem Wetter gehabt. Die Sonne schien und es gab weniger Wind als die Tage davor. Zwei Stunden lang sind sie am Strand durchs Wasser geritten - meistens galloppiert, was natürlich am meisten Spaß macht. :-)

A dream came true and she even was so very lucky with the weather. On that day the sun was shining and there was almost no wind. For two hours they were riding at the beach and most of the time did galloping which is of course the most fun!!

Kölner Dom und Plätzchen - Cologne cathedral and cookies

An einem der letzeten sonnigen Samstage haben wir einen Ausflug nach Köln zum Dom gemacht. Das Besondere ist nämlich, dass er seit Jahren mal wieder endlich ohne Gerüst zu bestaunen ist und das wollten wir uns nicht entgehen lassen. 

 

On a sunny saturday we took a trip to cologne to visit its church. The special thing about it is that it is without scaffold at the time which is not the usual because there is always work to do on it. It looks so nice without it. 

 

 

 

Ich habe nur zwei Fotos von außen gemacht. Drin war einfach viel zu viel los. Das schöne Wetter haben auch die Menschen aus den angrenzenden Nachbarländern gut genutzt, ich habe so viel niederländisch gehört, wie lange nicht mehr. :-)

 

I only took two pictures from the outside because inside there were so very many people that it was no fun to take any pictures. A lot of people from the netherlands took a visit as well, I haven't heard that much dutch in quite a while. 

 

 

 

 

Danach haben wir noch Aposteln besucht, wo gar nichts los war und man sich ganz in Ruhe aufhalten konnte. 

Afterwards we went to Aposteln, another church in the city of cologne, where it was all quiet, nobody was in there except for us. 

Aposteln mag ich besonders gern. 

I like this church very much. 

 

 

 

Zurück zu Hause haben wir diese neuen Nudelhölzer ausprobiert. Sie haben Muster und diese finden sich dann hoffentlichim Teig wieder. Ich fand diese Idee so toll, dass ich sie für usnere Weihnachtsbäckerei bestellt habe. 

 

Back at home we tried out these rolling pins for the first time. I ordered them after seeing them on the internet for the first time and I thought it would be a great ideo to make some cookies with them. 

 

 

 

 

Die Plätzchen sind sogar was geworden.

Diese schönen roten Blätter an unserem Ahorn sind nun auch abgefallen. Winterschlaf ist angesagt. 

All leaves of our japanese maple tree are gone by now. All the plants are hibernating now. 

 

 

 

 

Bald werde ich unsere Herbsdekoration auf dem Esstisch gegen Weihnachtsdeko tauschen. 

Soon I will change autumn decoration to christmas decoration.

 

 

 

 

Trotz des hereinbrechenden Winters wächst im Garten immernoch Mangold!

Even though winter is coming there is still swiss chard growing in our raised bed!

Cookie hört in der Hundeschule fleissig zu, was sie machen soll. 

Cookie is a careful listener to what she is to do in pet obedience school.

 

 

 

 

Nach der Hundeschule ist sie müde und muss ein Nickerchen machen.

After training she is tired and takes a nap.

 

 

 

In der Werkstatt geht es auch weiter, wenn auch langsam. Der neue Estrich ist getrocknet und begehbar. Er wird demnächst gestrichen.
