Binding off - Abketten

Wir habenn ein neues Herbstbild aufgestellt. Ich habe es beim Waldowverlag bestellt, zusammen mit zwei weiteren Winterbildern, die wir im Laufe der nächsten Wochen aufstellen wollen. 

 

We decorated a new autum picture in the living room. I ordered it in a german Waldorf shop together with two other winter pictures that we will decorate during the next week. 

 

 

 

Mit Mumpel habe ich heute das Abketten geübt bzw. ihr überhaupt gezeigt, wie man das macht. Sie hatte nach längerer Zeit wieder angefangen, zu stricken und Oma hat ihr diese Wolle mitgebracht. Fertig abgekettet haben wir dann vernäht.

Mumpel and I practiced binding wool off today. I showed her how to do it, she started knitting after a longer period of not knitting and grandma brought her the wool you see on the picture.

Die Apfelringe sind fertig getrocknet und in Gläser zur Aufbewahrung gefüllt worden. Eins davon hat Thomas mit zur Arbeit genommen und ich glaube, sie werden nicht lange halten, wir müssen also demnächst noch mehr machen.

Our apple rings have dried and I put them into glasses to store them. Thomas took one of them to the workshop and I think, all of these glasses will be empty really soon so we will make some new apple rings soon. 

 

 

 

Knitting a scarf - Ein Tuch stricken

Ich habe mit meinem neuen Strickprojekt angefangen, für das letzte Woche die Wolle angekommen ist. Ich habe extra ein langes Strickseil genommen, weil das Tuch sehr breit werden wird. Anfangs habe ich mich dauernd mit dem Zählen vertan und musste die ersten Reihen mehrfach wieder aufmachen, aber jetzt klappt es endlich.

I started my new knitting project for which the wool package arrived last week. I am using a long knitting rope because I know this scarf is going to be a very broad one. In the beginning I kept counting wrong and had to restart a couple of times but now it works.

Mir gefällt die farbverlaufende Wolle sehr gut, das war ein Grund dafür, das Tuch nochmal zu stricken.

I like the change in colors in one ball of wool and that was mainly the reason to knit another one of the triangular scarfs.

Da ich in den letzten Jahren öfters die Erfahrung gemacht habe, dass zu viel Stricken meinem Nacken gar nicht gut tut, mache ich Pausen und gehe zwischendurch einfach mal wieder in den Garten. In der Erbse fliegt ein Schmetterling herum, aber fotografieren lassen will er sich nicht so recht.

Since I can't knit for a long period of time because my neck hurts then I take breaks and walk around in the garden. There is a butterfly flying around in the pea but it doesn't really like to get photographed.

Gerade noch erwischt, bevor er aus dem Bild fliegt.

New knitting project - Neues Strickprojekt

Bald kann ich mit einem neuen Strickprojekt anfangen. Ich habe mir diese bunte Wolle bestellt, aus der ich ein Dreieckstuch mit Lochmuster machen möchte. Vor Jahren habe ich ein solches Tuch schon einmal gestrickt. Jetzt fange ich es noch einmal in anderen Farben an.

I will be starting a new knitting project soon. I ordered this colorful wool on the internet and I will do a triangular scarf with a lace pattern from it. I did a scarf like this years ago and loved it. So now I will do another one in different colors.

Meine Freundin hat mir Stecklinge einer Trompetenblume mitgebracht. Am Haus ihrer Mutter wächst sie die Wand hoch, ebenso wie der fünfblättrige, wilde Wein aus dem nächsten Bild. Wenn ich Glück habe und die Stecklinge Wurzeln bekommen, kann ich sie an die Hauswand pflanzen, um sie zu begrünen. Irgendwas muss man ja gegen die Sommerhitze im Haus tun.

My friend brought me some cuttings from a trumpet flower. It grows on her mothers house just like the five-leaf wine that you see on the next picture. If I'm lucky and the cuttings get roots I will plant them in front of the house to cool the wall. I need to work against the heat in the house during the summer months.

Reading, knitting, planting - Lesen, stricken, pflanzen

Oma hat ausgemistet und einen Roman über die Wikinger gefunden. Da sie weiß, dass das unser letztes Thema vor den Ferien war, hat sie uns das Buch zu lesen gegeben.

Grandma mucked out her bookshelf and found a novel about the vikings. She knows that they were our last subject before summer break so she handed the book to Mumpel to read it.

Das Buch ist von 1959 und Oma hat es schon seit ihrer Kindheit. Ich kenne es selbst noch nicht, wir werden es zusammen lesen. (Unbezahlte Werbung)

This book is from 1959 and grandma has had it since she was a child. I don't know the story so Mumpel and I will read it together.

Ich bin derzeit dabei, mein Strickprojekt fertigzustellen. Ich stricke Hausschuhe für Mumpel, die später gefilzt werden. Dieses Projekt lag jetzt lange im Schrank, da ich wegen ständigen Nackenschmerzen nicht stricken konnte. Jetzt geht es mir aber besser und ich fange wieder an.

At the time I am working on a knitting project for Mumpel, I am doing slippers for her and they will be felted in the washing mashine after knitting. This project has been in the cupboard for months now due to my pain in the muscles of the neck. I just couldn't knit without pain but I feel a lot better now so I started again.

Ich habe eine Rose für die Wand am Carport gekauft, obwohl ich eigentlich kein Rosenfan war. Seit Neuestem mag ich sie gerne, vor allem diese zweifarbige rosa und weiße Rose hat mir gut gefallen.

I bought a rose and planted it right before the wall of our garage. I used to be no fan of roses but since some months I actually do like them, especially the pink and white color of this one.

So sieht die Blüte aus, es kommen noch fünf weitere.
