Am Sonntag war ich mit Thomas nochmal in Köln. Wir sind diesmal in die Kirche am Neumarkt gegangen und haben uns dort für eine halbe Stunde den Chor angehört. Jeden Sonntag gibt es dort für eine halbe Stunde Musik.
On sunday Thomas and I went to cologne again. This time we listened to the choir in a church near "Neumarkt" for half an hour. Each sunday for half an hour different musicians sing or play music there.

Diesmal haben wir einen anderen Weihnachtsmarkt ausprobiert, nämlich den Nikolausmarkt am Rudolfplatz.
Tried another christmas market this time, it is called "Nicholasmarket" and its the market at the Rudolfplatz in cologne.

Zum Schluss waren wir noch in diesem netten kleinen Cafe um eine Tasse Kaffee zu trinken. An der Wand hingen viele aufgeschlagene Bücher. Habt Ihr auch einen schönen zweiten Advent gehabt?
At the end of our little trip we had a cup of coffee in this nice little cafe. It has all kinds of books hanging at the wall. Have you had a nice second advent?
Happy second Sunday of Advent, Angie. Is that a bronze statue of St. George slaying the dragon? It's wonderful! The coffee shop looks very cozy. I was in Cologne many, many years ago . . I remember taking a peek at the Köln cathedral, but I spent most of my time there in the train station waiting for my connection to Zurich (I was coming from Bremerhaven). It was late at night and my connection wasn't until 1 or 2 am in the morning. It was New Year's Eve, or Silvestre, and some young people were setting off firecrackers in the station! What a memory!
AntwortenLöschenHappy second of Advent for you, too. Yes, you are right, it`s a statue of St. George with the dragon and it is from the 15th century. It was St. Michael before but in 1950 when they had to restore it they took off his wings. Oh, so you have only seen cologne and the cathedral at night, that's too bad, it looks pretty nice from the outside as well. But you have been to Germany, that's really nice, did you like it? Zurich must be very nice, still a place on our To Do List. Yes, Silvester and the fire crackers is a big thing over here. When I spent a year in the USA as an exchange student when I was 16 I couldn't believe my host parents wouldn't celebrate at all. :-)
LöschenIch habe Jonathan, als er hier war, die Kirchenbilder gezeigt. Er fand sie ganz toll. Uns so viele schöne Räuchermännchen!!
AntwortenLöschenDer Altar war so schön ausgeleuchtet in blauem Licht. Die Kirche hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Du machst Dir keine Vorstellung, wieviel Räuchermännchen es dort gab! Ein Wahnsinn, wieviele Figuren dieser Wagen aufgestapelt hatte.

LöschenJa, so wie ich das verstanden habe, schon! Teils auch Figuren und Krippen aus dem Erzgebirge, wirklich ganz toll! Wir möchten dieses Jahr auf jeden Fall wieder auf diesen Weihnachtsmarkt gehen. (Wenn es denn dann Corona zulässt und wir uns nicht zu unwohl fühlen in der Menge)

LöschenDie Sachen aus dem Erzgebirge stammen ja oft aus alten Familienbetrieben, die schon jahrhundertelang das machen.
LöschenDerzeit habe ich den Eindruck, dass nichts mehr abgesagt wird, weil die Leute das eingeschränkte Leben einfach nicht mehr mitmachen wollen. Aber ob wir uns dann dort wohlfühlen ist die nächste Frage. Ja, diese Familienbetriebe finde ich toll, ich fürchte aber, dass sie es heutzutage ganz schön schwer haben, mit ihrem Kunsthandwerk zu überleben.
