Garden pictures - Gartenbilder

Letzte Woche habe ich Pflanzen für den Garten bestellt. Unter anderem diese - wie man leider noch nicht erkennen kann - Ramblerrose, die Thomas mir geholfen hat, an den Zierapfelbaum zu pflanzen. Dort soll sie hochwachsen und dem Baum zu einer schönen dichten Krone verhelfen, denn er ist einfach zu kahl, weil er zu wenige Blätter hat und sollte eigentlich die Dachterrasse der Nachbarn verdecken. 

 

Last week I ordered plants for the garden. On the picture above you see a climbing rose called Paul's Himalayan Musk and Thomas over the weekend helped me to plant it right in front of our crab apple tree. We want the rose to climb up into the tree and help it build a tight treetop as the apple tree unfortunately doesn't do this its leaves are just too tiny. We need a good treetop though to hide the neighbors' roof porch looking right into our garden. 

 

 

 

 

Es wächst schon Kresse in einem der beiden Hochbeete, sie ist schon so groß, dass man sie essen kann. 

Cress is growing in one of our raised beds and can already be eaten. 

 

 

 

 

Die erste Blüte des Leins ist aufgegangen, eine Pflanze, die Thomas sich für den Garten gewünscht hatte und die ich vorher gar nicht kannte, er aber früher bei seinen Eltern im Garten hatte. Da wir sie im letzten Jahr im Sommer erst gepflanzt haben, hatte sie damals auch nur eine einzige Blüte. Jetzt kommen aber immer mehr Knospen. 

 

The first blossom of our flax plant has appeared. Thomas wanted this flower for the garden as he knows it from ist parents garden. I didn't know it before and as we planted it in the summer last year it had only one single flower last year but now we can see many blossoms growing.

 

 

 

 

Diese Brombeere hat keine Dornen. Ich bin mal gespannt, ob es dabei bleibt. 

This blackberry is supposed to have no thorns, let's wait and see if it stays like that. 

 

 

 

 

Winzige Erdbeeren, die rankend sind und deren Triebe bis zu zwei Meter lang werden sollen. Auch hier bin ich mal sehr gespannt, ob das was wird. Ich habe sie in einen Topf gepflanzt und werde sie hochbinden, dann liegen sie nicht in der nassen Erde und ich muss kein Stroh unterlegen. 

 

Tiny little strawberry plants that are supposed to become two meters long. Can't wait to see if they really make that much way or not. I will have them grow up the wall so the strawberries won't lay in the soaked soil and won't turn bad. 

 

 

 

 

Aus dem Bioladen habe ich diese Gemüsepflanzen erstanden. Das sind Gurken, Tomaten, Kürbis, Melone und Kapuzinerkresse.

Dieses Jahr scheint es viele Äpfel zu geben, denn der Apfelbaum hat sehr viele Blüten.

Another birthday - Noch ein Geburtstag

Am Wochenende haben wir Rob's Geburtstag gefeiert und Mumpel und ich haben jede Menge Kuchen bzw. Muffins gebacken. Vor Ostern hatte ich diese schöne Kuchenform in Form einer Rose bestellt und zu seinem Geburtstag zum ersten Mal benutzt. Ich finde, der Kuchen ist ganz gut gelungen, man kann erkennen, dass es eine Rosenblüte sein soll. 

 

We celebrated Rob's birthday over the weekend and Mumpel and I baked a lot of cake for this occasion. I ordered a special cake form that looks like a rose flower and I used it for the first time. It turned out pretty well I think. 

 

 

 

Zusammen mit der Kuchenform hatte ich auch dieses Muffinrad bestellt, das wir am Geburtstag auch benutzt haben. Es hat gut gepasst und sah dekorativ aus. Den Teig haben sich die Kinder gewünscht, es ist ein Schoko-Kirschkuchen geworden. Ich habe so viel Teig gemacht, dass wir ihn auch noch für die Muffins nutzen konnten. 

 

We also used our new Muffin wheel to put the chocolat cherry muffins in it. It looked really nice I think. I made a lot of dough to use it for both, cake and muffins.

Unter anderem hat Rob eins unserer selbstgemachten Schneidebretter bekommen.

Along with other things Rob got one of our crafted wooden cutting boards.

Alles in Allem hatten wir eine schöne Feier und einen schönen Tag, auch wenn wir wegen Covid nicht so richtig gemeinsam feiern konnten, so wie wir es normalerweise tun und Rob auch seine Freunde nicht sehen konnte. Wir haben das Beste draus gemacht, Oma und Opa und seine Tante waren bei uns, zum Glück hat die Sonne geschienen, denn wir haben im Garten gestanden und erzählt. 

All in all we had a nice day and Rob was happy. It is a little sad not to be able to really meet anyone due to Covid at the time. Usually we have a house full of guests. But we did the best we could to spend a good day and grandma and grandpa and Robs aunt visited us in our garden. Luckily the sun was shining. 

 

 

 

Es ist immer noch sehr kalt draußen und wir haben viel Regen. Ein richtiges Frühlingsgefühl stellt sich noch nicht ein aber diese Felsenbirne gibt alles, um den Frühling anzulocken. 

 

We still have really low temperatures so it doesn't yet feel like spring but this tree is blossoming and looking fabulous.

Easter - Ostern

Zu Ostern haben die Kinder und ich diese Osterküchlein gebacken, sie bestehen aus einem Quark-Öl Teig und waren wirklich lecker. Ich hatte dafür extra Osterförmchen bestellt und diese Plätzchen sind richtig dick gewesen. 

 

The kids and I did some baking for the easter holidays. We did these little cookie cakes with a special dough with curd cheese and oil in it. They were really yummy, we loved them and I ordered easter baking cases to do this baking project a couple days before. 

 

 

 

Noch sieht der Teig so dünn aus wie Plätzchenteig, aber die Hasen werden nach dem Backen richtig dick. 

They still look tiny but after baking the easter bunnies get really really thick like little cakes. 

 

 

 

Wer soll diese ganzen Eier bloss essen? Naja, es geht ja schliesslich ums suchen. 

Who is going to eat all these many easter eggs? Well, then again, it's about searching them.

Ich finde das Geschirr so süss, auch wenn man es nur an wenigen Tagen im Jahr nutzen kann, ich hab mich drüber gefreut. Ich glaube, ich verlängere die Oster-Geschirr-Saison einfach noch um diese Woche. 

I really love these easter plates and cups even though there are so few days during the year to use them. Easter is just not long enough but I think we'll just keep on using them for this whole week.

Mumpel hat mit Papa eine Fahrradtour in den Wald gemacht. Dabei haben sie diesen Schmetterling getroffen, der immer wieder auf Mumpels Hand geflogen kam und auch gar nicht mehr wegging. Fast hätte sie ihn mit nach Hause gebracht, doch dann hat er sich umentschieden und ist doch wieder in den Wald zurückgeflogen und war weg. Das war ein schönes Erlebnis für Mumpel. 

 

Mumpel went biking with her dad and they met this butterfly in the forest. It kept flying onto Mumpel's hand and rested there, she just loved the experience! It seemed like he would not go away anymore and Mumpel almost took it home but in the end the butterfly decided to stay in the forest and flew away. 

 

 

 

 

An einem sonnigen Tag habe ich diesen kleinen Kerl gefunden und fotografiert. Heute schneit es, es ist eiskalt und soll genau so bleiben - zumindest für die nächsten zehn Tage. Weiter reicht die Wettervorhersage noch nicht.

Heute nacht muss ich die Birnenblüten abdecken, es ist einfach zu kalt. 

Have to put a blanket over the pear blossoms, it is just plainly way too cold.
