Garden pictures - Gartenbilder

Letzte Woche habe ich Pflanzen für den Garten bestellt. Unter anderem diese - wie man leider noch nicht erkennen kann - Ramblerrose, die Thomas mir geholfen hat, an den Zierapfelbaum zu pflanzen. Dort soll sie hochwachsen und dem Baum zu einer schönen dichten Krone verhelfen, denn er ist einfach zu kahl, weil er zu wenige Blätter hat und sollte eigentlich die Dachterrasse der Nachbarn verdecken. 

 

Last week I ordered plants for the garden. On the picture above you see a climbing rose called Paul's Himalayan Musk and Thomas over the weekend helped me to plant it right in front of our crab apple tree. We want the rose to climb up into the tree and help it build a tight treetop as the apple tree unfortunately doesn't do this its leaves are just too tiny. We need a good treetop though to hide the neighbors' roof porch looking right into our garden. 

 

 

 

 

Es wächst schon Kresse in einem der beiden Hochbeete, sie ist schon so groß, dass man sie essen kann. 

Cress is growing in one of our raised beds and can already be eaten. 

 

 

 

 

Die erste Blüte des Leins ist aufgegangen, eine Pflanze, die Thomas sich für den Garten gewünscht hatte und die ich vorher gar nicht kannte, er aber früher bei seinen Eltern im Garten hatte. Da wir sie im letzten Jahr im Sommer erst gepflanzt haben, hatte sie damals auch nur eine einzige Blüte. Jetzt kommen aber immer mehr Knospen. 

 

The first blossom of our flax plant has appeared. Thomas wanted this flower for the garden as he knows it from ist parents garden. I didn't know it before and as we planted it in the summer last year it had only one single flower last year but now we can see many blossoms growing.

 

 

 

 

Diese Brombeere hat keine Dornen. Ich bin mal gespannt, ob es dabei bleibt. 

This blackberry is supposed to have no thorns, let's wait and see if it stays like that. 

 

 

 

 

Winzige Erdbeeren, die rankend sind und deren Triebe bis zu zwei Meter lang werden sollen. Auch hier bin ich mal sehr gespannt, ob das was wird. Ich habe sie in einen Topf gepflanzt und werde sie hochbinden, dann liegen sie nicht in der nassen Erde und ich muss kein Stroh unterlegen. 

 

Tiny little strawberry plants that are supposed to become two meters long. Can't wait to see if they really make that much way or not. I will have them grow up the wall so the strawberries won't lay in the soaked soil and won't turn bad. 

 

 

 

 

Aus dem Bioladen habe ich diese Gemüsepflanzen erstanden. Das sind Gurken, Tomaten, Kürbis, Melone und Kapuzinerkresse. 

I bought these vegetable plants in our organic shop: Cucumbers, tomatoes, pumpkin, melon and nasturtium.

Dieses Jahr scheint es viele Äpfel zu geben, denn der Apfelbaum hat sehr viele Blüten.

We seem to get quite a few apples according to all the blossoms of our apple tree.

Zum Mittagessen gab es mal wieder leckere Zuckerschoten mit anderem Gemüse.

Cookie hilft mir immer bei der Büroarbeit - aber eigentlich liegt sie meistens im Weg.

Soviel Arbeit erfordert ein gemütliches Schläfchen bei Mumpel.

Black board and springtime - Tafel und Frühling

Seit Sonntag haben wir zwei Tafeln zu Hause. Eine kleinere steht im Wohnzimmer und eine längere Tafel wurde in der Küche aufgehangen. Die Kinder waren am Sonntag mit Thomas in der Werkstatt und haben zwei Bretter mit schwarzem Tafellack eingepinselt. Mumpel hat das gleich zum Anlass genommen, phantasievolle fröhliche Osterglöckchen zu malen. 

 

Since sunday we have two blackboards at home. Rob and Mumpel made them from wood and blackboard paint with their dad. Mumpel right away drew some colorful daffodils for a beginning. 

 

 

 

Schrauben müssen in die neue Tafel geschraubt werden und dann wird diese Tafel von Mumpel und Thomas an der Küchenwand angebracht.

In der Küche durfte ich malen. Noch etwas früh, aber dennoch ein Osterbild.

I was allowed to draw in the kitchen then. A little early for an easter picture, but,  oh, well. 

 

 

 

Thomas fand das sehr lustig, Cookie mit ins Bild zu setzen.

Thomas thought it was so funny to have Cookie in the picture.

Wir haben unser dickes Buch der Handwerksberufe zuende gelesen. Der letzte Beruf ist der des Uhrmachers und dieser Beruf hat Mumpel besonders interessiert, da auch von den Kuckucksuhren die Rede ist. Sie hat vor Jahren die Kuckucksuhr ihres Opas geschenkt bekommen und sie hängt in ihrem Zimmer. 

 

We finished reading in our big book of craft professions. The last profession we looked into was the one about the clockmakers. Mumpel was especially interested in this profession because in the book they had information on cuckoo clocks and years ago she received grandpa's old cuckoo clock which she loves and which is in her room. 

 

 

 

 

Uns hat dieses Buch sehr gut gefallen. 

We liked this book very much. 

 

 

 

Mumpel hat uns einen grünen Salat mit gebratenem Tofu gemacht. 

Mumpel made a salad for us with fried tofu on it. 

 

 

 

Die Tulpen sind aufgegangen und sehen schön aus. 

Tulips opened up and look beautiful. 

 

 

 

 

Draußen wachsen lila und weiße Krokusse. Als ich sie gekauft habe, dachte ich, es seien normale Krokusse, doch das hier ist eine viel größere Art. Sie sind trotzdem sehr schön. In ein paar Jahren haben wir sie im Februar und März hoffentlich im gesamten Rasen. 

 

Under our trees outside lots of purple and white crocuses blossom. When I bought them I thought they were normal small ones but actually this sort is much bigger than the regular ones that I know. But they look really nice. In a couple of years we will hopefully have them everywhere in the lawn. 

 

 

 

 

Omphalodes bekommt immer mehr blaue Blüten, ein richter Teppich.

Omphalodes starts looking like a blue carpet it has so many blue flowers. 

 

 

 

Das wars von uns für heute. Im Moment gibt es nicht so viel Abwechslung in den Dingen, die wir machen können. Der Pferdestall hat immer noch geschlossen, seit einem Jahr schon fällt das reiten aus. Wir sind viel in der Werkstatt und zu Hause und beschäftigen uns dort. 

This was it from us for today. At the moment we don't have too much alternation in things to do. For example the stable and horse back riding sessions have been closed for a year now. We spend a lot of time in the workshop and at home and keep ourselves busy there.
