Today we took a trip to the Neanderthal Museum in Mettmann, Germany, to look at the way our ancestors lived and how the evolution of human man took place. They devided the exhibition in subjects like the life and survival of neanderthal man, the tools and knowledge he had and used as well as his environment and food and his social behavior. Close to the museum is the place in which the neanderthal skeleton originally was found and we visited that as well. But what topped it all for the kids were of course the things we took home from the shop: a set with which my son can light a fire only by using special stones and cinder and the sabre tooth tiger - excavation set for my daughter. 

Heute haben wir einen Ausflug ins Neanderthal-Museum in Mettmann gemacht um uns anzuschauen wie unsere Vorfahren gelebt haben und um etwas über die Evolution des Menschen zu erfahren. Die Ausstellung ist in verschiedene Themenbereiche unterteilt in denen es um das Leben und Überleben des Neanderthalers, Werkzeuge und Wissen, die Umwelt und Nahrung sowie sein soziales Leben und die Kommunikation geht. Wir haben uns auch die Fundstelle des Neanderthalskeletts angesehen. Aber am Besten fanden die Kinder die Sachen die wir anschließend aus dem Museumsshop mitgenommen haben: ein Set zum Feuermachen mit Feuerstein und Zunderpilz für meinen Sohn und den Säbelzahntiger zum Ausgraben für meine Tochter.
