Our weekend - Unser Wochenende

Wir haben Herbstferien! Unsere Fichtenzapfen sind endlich getrocknet und ich habe sie wieder, wie im letzten Jahr, auf unserm Holztablett zusammen mit Windlicht und Kerzen drapiert. Im Nebenzimmer liegen noch mehr, wir haben ganz schön viele gesammelt. Ich mag den Herbst als Jahreszeit sehr gerne, es wird ungemütlicher draußen und man kann es sich drin gemütlich machen.

 

We are having autumn vacation! Our spruce cones have finally dryed and I have put them, just like last year, onto our tray, together with some candles in a glass. There are lots more cones in the other room left, we collected quite a few of them. I like autumn a lot because it is getting darker and uncomfortable outside and that's a reason for me to arrange a little cosiness in the house. 

 

 

 

Mumpel hat den Samstagmorgen mit einem ungewöhnlichen Frühstück begonnen. Sie wollte schon seit langem mal wieder eine Artischocke mit Vinaigrette essen, so, wie wir sie im Sommer oft in Frankreich gegessen haben. Wegen Covid sind wir dieses Jahr ja nicht gefahren, doch eine kleine Erinnerung an den Urlaub kann nicht schaden. 

Mumpel started off on saturday with a rather unusual breakfast. She wanted to have an artichoke with vinaigrette. That's something she loved eating down in South France whenever we went on holidays there. This year we didn't go because of Covid but it's nice to remember our vacations there by having an artichoke. 

 

 

 

Die Artischocke musste ganz schön lange kochen, wir hatten sie fast 45 Minuten lang im Wasser. 

It had to boil for quite some time - we took it out after 45 minutes and it was perfect.

 

 

 

Jetzt kann man die einzelnen Blätter ganz leicht abziehen.

Now it is easy to get the leaves off. 

 

 

 

 

Sie hat sich im Netz eine Vinaigrette rausgesucht, ich glaube, es sind Öl, Essig, Senf und Oregano und ein paar wenige weitere Zutaten darin. Mumpel hat alles allein gemacht.

She found a recipe for a vinaigrette on the internet. I think she took oil, vinegar, mustard, oregano and a few other ingredients. Mumpel did it by herself.

Am Sonntagvormittag sind die Kinder mit Thomas zusammen in die Eifel gefahren, um nach den Hirschen zu schauen. Wir konnten die letzten Wochen gar nicht hinfahren, weil es andauernd geregnet hat. Rob wollte sie gern fotografieren und das ist bei schlechtem Licht leider nicht möglich. Diesmal hat er aber gute Fotos machen können. Ich zeige sie Euch, sobald er sie heruntergeladen hat. Diese Fotos sind leider nicht so gut geworden, Thomas hat sie mit der Handykamera gemacht und dafür sind sie leider zu weit weg. 

On sunday morning the kids and Thomas went to the Eifel to look for the deer. During the last weeks we couldn't go there because the weather was constantly too bad, it's been raining for weeks now. Rob wanted to take pictures of them but that's not possible when its too dark and the light is bad. This time he was lucky though and was able to take good pictures. I will show his photos as soon as he downloaded them. This photo and the next is not really good. Thomas took it with his cell phone camera and all the deer was just too far away to get a good shot.

Während die Jungs und Mädels weg waren, habe ich so interessante Dinge gemacht, wie die Kühltruhe zuende abgetaut (einen Teil hatte ich vorher mit Thomas schon zusammen gemacht) und alles sauber gemacht und wieder eingeräumt. 

While the boys and girls were out in the Eifel I did such interesting things as defrosting the freezer (luckily Thomas helped me a bit before they left), cleaned everything and put the stuff back into it. 

 

 

 

Weil an dem Morgen so viel zu tun war und ich von unterwegs schon einen Anruf bekam, dass der Hunger schon groß sei, gab es dann mittags schnelle Spaghetti mit selbstgemachter Tomatensauce und einem Tomatensalat. 

There was a lot to do that sunday morning and because the kids called me just before they left the Eifel to come home saying they were starving to death I quickly made some spaghettis with homemade tomatoe sauce and a tomatoe salad.

Binding off - Abketten

Wir habenn ein neues Herbstbild aufgestellt. Ich habe es beim Waldowverlag bestellt, zusammen mit zwei weiteren Winterbildern, die wir im Laufe der nächsten Wochen aufstellen wollen. 

 

We decorated a new autum picture in the living room. I ordered it in a german Waldorf shop together with two other winter pictures that we will decorate during the next week. 

 

 

 

Mit Mumpel habe ich heute das Abketten geübt bzw. ihr überhaupt gezeigt, wie man das macht. Sie hatte nach längerer Zeit wieder angefangen, zu stricken und Oma hat ihr diese Wolle mitgebracht. Fertig abgekettet haben wir dann vernäht.

Mumpel and I practiced binding wool off today. I showed her how to do it, she started knitting after a longer period of not knitting and grandma brought her the wool you see on the picture. 

 

 

 

Fertig / Finished

 

 

Die Apfelringe sind fertig getrocknet und in Gläser zur Aufbewahrung gefüllt worden. Eins davon hat Thomas mit zur Arbeit genommen und ich glaube, sie werden nicht lange halten, wir müssen also demnächst noch mehr machen.

Our apple rings have dried and I put them into glasses to store them. Thomas took one of them to the workshop and I think, all of these glasses will be empty really soon so we will make some new apple rings soon.

Wir haben es uns am Tisch mit Kerzen gemütlich gemacht, es wird schon wieder früh dunkel. 

We decorated the table with lights for drawing, it is getting dark early again this time of year.

- - Unbezahlte Werbung - - Los gehts mit dem September. Die Schrift ist leider beim Drucken nicht ganz mit drauf gedruckt worden, wir haben sie später nachgemalt.

- - Unbeauftragte Werbung - - So sehen die Kalenderseiten aus. Man kann die Zahlen ertastbar machen, indem man die Punkte darunter mit einem Zahnstocher durchsticht.

- - Unpaid advertising - - This is what the pages with days look like. You can pierce the little dots under the numbers and that way make them palpable.

 

 

 

 

- - Unbezahlte Werbung - - Nach einer Weile mussten wir das Licht anmachen, zwar war es noch nicht dunkel, aber trotzdem war schon um kurz nach vier nicht mehr genug Licht zum Malen da. 

- -  Unpaid advertising - - After a while we had to turn on the lights, it was not actually completely dark but at four in the afternoon still not enough light for drawing anymore.
