Erstes Kennenlernen Mumpel und Toby - first meet between Mumpel and Toby

Mit Mumpel war ich vor ein paar Tagen unterwegs, um ein neues Pferd kennenzulernen. Sie hat sich schweren Herzens dazu entschieden, sich von ihrer Reitbeteiligung zu verabschieden weil sie mit der Besitzerin des Pferdes nicht mehr gut klar kam. Doch es hat sich eine sehr schöne andere Möglichkeit für sie ergeben, reiten zu können. Diesmal allerdings nicht in der Halle in der Reitstunde sondern draußen im Wald und auf den Feldern. Es geht um das Pferd auf dem Bild oben. Es ist ein Irish Cob und ist mit 1,30 m zu klein um Erwachsene zu tragen. Mumpel kann aber noch prima auf ihm reiten. Die beiden 20-jährigen Mädels, die diese drei irischen Pferde versorgen, reiten sie immer nur in der Natur, was Mumpel viel mehr liebt als das Reiten in der Halle. Sie haben Mumpel gefragt, ob sie nicht Lust hätte, auf diesen süßen Irish Cob mit ihnen auszureiten weil er fast nie geritten wird da er einfach keine Erwachsenen mehr tragen kann und sich aber doch bewegen soll.  Nach einem Probe-Ausreiten hat sie sich sofort dafür entschieden. 

Mumpel and I got to know a new horse a couple of days ago. With a heavy heart she decided to give up the horse sharing because she and the girl the horse belonged to weren't getting along anymore. But she found a beautiful possibility to keep up with her riding. From now on she will ride an Irish Cob horse, it's the horse you can see on the picture above. She will not ride him in the riding hall during riding lessons but only outside in the surrounding fields and forest which she loves much more than riding in the riding school. Two 20 year old girls take care of the three Irish Cob horses that live outside all year round and the one Ronja is supposed to be riding is too small to carry a grown up person. That would put too much weight on him as he is only 1,30 m tall. Mumpel is at a perfect age and weight to be able to ride him though. The two girls met Ronja during a lesson in the riding school and asked her if she would like to ride Toby because they were desperately looking for someone to ride him. So I went to see if this was a possibility with Mumpel and after riding him only once she decided to do it on a regular basis.

Das ist Toby und man kann sagen dass sich Mumpel sofort in ihn verliebt hat. Toby steht mit seinen beiden Freunden das ganze Jahr über draußen und geht prima im Gelände. Er ist ein ganz ganz liebes Pferd, vor allem ruhig und kein bisschen ängstlich oder hektisch. Das nimmt mir als Mutter natürlich auch ein bisschen die Sorge, dass was passieren könnte während des Ausreitens. Mumpel sieht ihn hier zum ersten Mal und hat alles gezeigt bekommen. Zusammen mit C hat sie ihn von der Wiese geholt und im Schatten geputzt und gesattelt, bevor sie ausgeritten ist. Ich bin während des Ausreitens zurück zum Pferdehof ganz in der Nähe gegangen und habe gewartet. Auf dem Weg zum Hof habe ich Mumpel gesehen wie einen kleinen Punkt am Horizont, wie sie im Galopp mit jeder Menge Staub hinter sich und wehenden Haaren auf Toby in den Wald galoppiert ist. Das Bild vergesse ich so schnell nicht wieder.

This is Toby and I think Mumpel fell in love with him right away. Toby lives outside all year long and he seems to be the perfect horse for doing riding trips through nature. He is so very calm and nice, he is not scared at all nor is he hectic. That is good thing to know for me as a mother as of course I always do worry something could happen while Mumpel is gone riding. This was the first time she saw Toby, she went to the meadow to get him and cleaned him together with C in the shadow. Afterwords the two girls took a trip through the surrounding fields with the horses. During that time I went back to the nearby horse stable and riding school to wait for Mumpel. While walking up to the stable I coud see her as a tiny spot in the distance, galloping happily with blowing hair and a great cloud of dust from the ground behind her, reaching the forest and vanishing in it. That was such a beautiful picture that I will not forget that fast.

Es war ein gelungener Tag und Mumpel darf Toby jetzt zweimal die Woche zusammen mit den anderen beiden Mädchen reiten gehen. Die beiden sind wirklich sehr nett und die Tatsache, dass sie schon etwas älter sind finde ich ganz gut für die Ausritte. Die drei verstehen sich gut und Mumpel kommt jedes Mal strahlend nach Hause wenn sie bei Toby war. So soll es doch auch sein. 

It's been a successful day and Mumpel can ride Toby twice a week now together with the other two girls. The girls are really nice and the fact that they are 20 already I think is a good thing for riding in nature. They all get along well and Mumpel always returns home with such a happy face so I suppose that's a very good sign.

New skateboard - Neues Skateboard

Seit letzter Woche hat Mumpel ein neues Projekt. Sie wollte endlich ein neues, gutes Skateboard haben, damit sie mit ihrem Bruder zusammen fahren kann. Sie hat sich im bekannten Titusshop im Internet also eins selbst zusammengestellt und dann bestellt. Rob hat ihr dabei geholfen, damit hinterher alles zusammen passt. Natürlich muss es ein cooles Skateboard sein, deshalb geht selbstverständlich nur eins mit Totenkopf drauf. 

Mumpel has a new project she is into since last week. She wanted a new and good skateboard so she can use it during the summer together with her brother who is also into skateboarding. She searched the internet to find the parts she wanted to put herself a board together and Rob helped her with it. Of course having a skateboard has something to do with being cool so it had to be a cool motive and what could be cooler than a skull? 

Auf dieser blauen Seite wird das Grip tape befestigt, damit man einen ordentlichen Stand hat und nicht so schnell mit den Füßen abrutscht. Das coole Motiv sieht man also von oben nicht mal, das ist auf der Unterseite. :-)

They fixed grip tape on the top of the board so slipping off is not happening too fast and the cool skull motive is on the ground side.

Mumpel hat die alten Rollen an das neue Rollbrett geschraubt weil die noch gut funktionieren und so ein Board sonst ganz schön teuer wird - Mumpel is using the rolls of her old skateboard because they still work just fine and besides that buying a skateboard can get really expensive

Werkzeug wird auch gebraucht. Das wollten die Kinder eigentlich bei Opa leihen gehen doch praktischerweise haben sie Papa's Mitarbeiter getroffen, der gerade unterwegs zum Kunden war und ihnen aus dem Bus das Werkzeug gegeben hat. 

The kids actually wanted to borrow some tools at their grandparents house but on the way there they met dad's workers who were just on their way to a client and they gave them the tools they needes. 

Ich finde, das ist eine schöne Aktivität für die Kinder für den Sommer. Sie fahren jetzt oft mit ihren Freunden aber sie fahren auch zusammen und haben somit ein gemeinsames Thema. Am Wochenende waren wir in einem recht großen Skatepark, wo man alle möglichen Kunststücke ausprobieren konnte. Dort waren ganz viele Jugendliche und es war schon teilweise beeindruckend, was man mit einem solchen Rollbrett alles machen kann. Trotzdem habe ich jedesmal Schweißausbrüche bekommen, wenn wieder einer mutig die Rampe hoch gefahren ist und das Board alleine wieder runter sauste während die Kinder versuchten, sich im Laufen abzufangen und nicht hinzufallen. Tja, wie Mütter eben so sind, den Kindern hat es großen Spass gemacht. Thomas war auch mit und fand es auch prima, denn er ist früher mit seinen Freunden auch immer Rollbrett gefahren.

I think skateboarding is a nice activity for the kids for the summer. They like to meet with friends and they also have an interest that they both have together as siblings. At the weekend we've been to a rather big skatepark at which they were able to try all kinds of different feats. A lot of kids and teens were there using the park and some of them obviously have been at the park quite often. It was impressive to see what you can do with  a skateboard. Still - I got the sweats several times watching my kids rolling up the high ramp and losing the board which rolled back down without them on it while the kids tried to not fall onto the asphalt which can hurt pretty badly. Well, I guess that just belongs to a mother's life. Rob and Mumpel had great fun and Thomas too. He used to have a skateboard and do little tricks with it with his friends when he was Rob's age.  

 

Thomas und ich waren diese Woche auch nicht ganz untätig, wir haben in der Werkstatt an unseren Schneidebrettern aus Holz weitergearbeitet. 

Thomas and I haven't been inactive this week either, we have worked on our wooden cutting boards in the workshop this week.

Father's day and birthday - Vatertag und Geburtstag

Vor kurzem war Vatertag, den wir mit den Kindern zusammen in einem amerikanischen Steakhaus gefeiert haben. Dort gehen die Kinder gerne hin weil es nicht nur normale, sondern auch vegane Burger gibt. Anschließend haben wir alle noch eine Tour durch den Wald gemacht. Ich bin im Moment so gerne im Wald, ich glaube wirklich, das liegt daran, dass der Sommer hier nach dem langen Winter immer noch nicht so richtig durchbricht und sobald das Wetter es zulässt muss ich dringend raus und ein bisschen Natur erleben. Das war sehr schön. Die Kinder haben Thomas ein kleines Geschenk gemacht und Mumpel hat es eingepackt und verziert. Darin sind seine Lieblings-Süßigkeiten: Mozartkugeln. 

We celebrated father's day with the kids in an american Steakhouse which was really nice as the kids love their vegan burgers that they have there. Afterwards we took a walk through the forest. I love to be in the forest at the time and I think that is because after the long winter we had summer is still not really breaking through, so each time the weather is relatively nice and it isn't raining for a change, I have to go outside and feel nature. Our walk was long and very nice. Rob and Mumpel gave Thomas a little present for his special day, Mumpel wrapped and decorated it. Inside are Thomas favorite sweets: Mozartkugeln. They are little chocolates with nougat creme and marzipan in it and he loves them. 

Ein bisschen Natur muss sein - Need some nature every once in a while

Ein paar Tage nach Vatertag hatte ich Geburtstag und ich habe jede Menge Blumen geschenkt bekommen. Ich liebe Blumen sehr und habe mich sehr darüber gefreut, obwohl sie mir noch vor ein paar Jahren gar nicht wichtig gewesen wären. Tja, so ändern sich die Dinge im Leben. Diese Hortensien hat mir Rob geschenkt und sie sind Hängeampeln, die ich im Garten aufhängen kann. 

A couple of days after father's day it was my birthday and I got so many flowers as presents. I love flowers very much although only a couple of years ago they didn't really mean a lot to me. Well, that's how things change over time, I suppose. These hydrangeas I got from Rob and they are in hanging baskets. I will decorate our garden with them. 

 

Diese Handyhülle hat Mumpel mir mit ein wenig Hilfe meiner Freundin genäht. Sie hat dafür den schönsten Stoff rausgesucht und oben eine Lasche angenäht, damit man sie mit einem Druckknopf schließen kann. Ist die nicht schön geworden?

 Mumpel sewed this phone case for me with a little help of my friend. She found the prettiest fabric for it and put a flap on top of it with a push-button so I can close it. Didn't it turn out pretty?

Schaut Euch diesen Blumenstrauß von meinen Eltern an, den muss ich Euch einfach zeigen. Dieser Strauß hat eineinhalb Wochen lang gehalten, so lange hatte ich noch keinen Blumenstrauss. Die Pfingstrosen und der Rittersporn haben diesen wunderschönen Strauss ausgemacht.

Look at this flower bouquet I got from my parents, I just have to show you. These flowers were good for way over one week. The peonies and the delphinium looked just great together.

Mumpel liest gerade die "Kleine Biene Sonnenstrahl", eins ihrer Lieblingsbücher. Der Autor Jakob Streit erzählt in dieser Geschichte wunderbar über das Leben und Werken der Bienen. Solche Bücher finden wir alle toll denn sie enthalten Sachthemen, die in Geschichten eingebettet sind. Die Kinder können sich das viel besser merken als die trockenen Texte aus den Biobüchern. 

Mumpel is reading a book called "Little bee named sunshine". I'm not sure if there is an english version. The author Jakob Streit tells all about the life and doing of bees. Such books we all love very much because they give information about nonfiction, they let kids gather knowledge without being boring. A total difference to regular biology books.
