Mumpel hat ihr Heft über die Inuit fertiggestellt. Wir wollten es schon längst fertig haben, doch dann sind ihr noch alle möglichen Tiere eingefallen, die an den Polen leben, also haben wir noch weiter gemacht. Nach den Ferien können wir dann zum Mittelalter übergehen. Mumpel has finished her booklet about the Inuit. We actually wanted to be finished for a while but she found more and more animals that live in the polar regions so we continued drawing and writing about these animals. After fall break we can then go and look into the middle ages.

Wir haben auch angefangen, ein kleines Büchlein über zwei Inuit Zwillinge auf englisch zu lesen, wir bleiben also noch kurz im Thema. Dieses Buch ist von 1914 und von einer amerikanischen Autorin namens Lucy Fitch Perkins geschrieben. Sie hat eine ganze Serie von Zwillingsbüchern herausgebracht. Wir sind erst beim zweiten Kapitel, aber es ist schön geschrieben und beleuchtet den Alltag der Inuit zur Jahrhundertwende. Es ist ein Buch für Grundschüler.
We have also started to read a little booklet about Inuit twins in english so we stay for a little while with the arctic subject. This book is from 1914, an american author named Lucy fitch Perkins wrote it. She did a whole series of twins stories. We have read two chapters so far. The book is written in a nice way and it narrates the every day live of Inuit children at the time of changing centuries.
Man braucht das Buch nicht zu kaufen, man kann sich die Geschichte auf dieser Seite ausdrucken und das haben wir gemacht. Den Tipp zu dieser schönen Lektüre hat mir Eva gegeben. Sie schreibt den Blog "Untrodden Paths", der für mich immer wertvolle Büchertipps enthält. Schaut doch mal vorbei!

Die Jungfernrebe hat eine tolle Herbstfarbe bekommen. Im Frühjahr hatte meine Freundin sie mir aus dem Garten ihrer Mutter in Hamburg mitgebracht. Ich habe immernoch keinen Platz gefunden, an den ich sie pflanzen kann, ich muss mir vor dem Winter noch was ausdenken.
This vine has also turned into a beautiful autumnal red. My friend brought it home for me during springtime when she visited her mother in Hamburg. I still haven't found a place to plant it in the garden but I need to come up with something before winter comes.
Mumpels Frosch bewacht derzeit noch die Tellerhortensie, aber er kommt auch bald rein.
Mumpels frog is at the time a guard to one of our hydrangeas but we will take it inside soon.

An dieser Stelle kann ich nicht anders als zu erwähnen, dass mir die neue Oberfläche von Blogger sehr auf die Nerven geht. Ständig springt die Formatierung einfach um und man bekommt es nur durch mehrfaches klicken wieder so hin wie man es haben will. Es gefällt mir gar nicht, leider kann man zum alten Blogger nicht zurück.
I just have to mention how much I dislike the new format of Blogger it is so annoying. Every two seconds the format changes to something different so I have to go and klick my way through again and make changes. I don't like it I wish I could go back to the old Blogger style but there is no going back unfortunately.
