Francis of Assisi - Franz von Assisi

Mumpel has completed her booklet about Francis of Assisi. She practiced her writing in it and she drew pictures for it. The upper picture shows the village of Assisi in Italy. 

Mumpel hat ihr Heft über den heiligen Franziskus fertiggestellt. Sie hat das Schreiben damit geübt und Bilder gemalt. Das Bild oben zeigt das italienische Dorf Assisi.

Francis of Assisi is one of the contents for second grade at Steiner Schools. We have read a book from Jakob Streit about Francis and spoken about the chapters. Mumpel really enjoyed the stories about him and so it was easy to make a subject out of it. 

In der zweiten Klasse nehmen die Waldorfschüler Franz von Assisi durch. Wir haben ein Buch über ihn gelesen von Jakob Streit und über die einzelnen Kapitel gesprochen. Mumpel mochte die Geschichten gerne, also war es ganz einfach, das Thema zu behandeln.

Cabot Tower and John Cabot - Der Cabot Turm und John Cabot

When we visited the statue of John Cabot the other day on our way to the M Shed Museum, we learned about this well known explorer. So I thought I would show you some pictures of the Cabot tower in Brandon Hill Park in Bristol. The park is located in the city center, not far from the harbour and the statue. 

Als wir vor ein paar Tagen auf dem Weg ins M Shed Museum auch die Statue von John Cabot angeschaut haben, haben wir über diesen bekannten Entdecker eine Menge gelernt. Also dachte ich, ich zeige Euch auch noch die Bilder des Cabot Turms im Brandon Hill Park. Der Park liegt im Stadtzentrum, nicht weit vom Hafen und der Statue entfernt.

Rob and Mumpel found out that Cabot was a well known italian explorer in the 15th century. He was hired by the english and discovered different locations in Newfoundland, Canada. He started his tours from Bristol harbour which, back then, was the second largest seaport in England. There is a replica of his ship, "The Matthew" in the harbour that can be visited. 

Rob und Mumpel haben herausgefunden, dass Cabot ein bekannter italienischer Entdecker während des 15ten Jahrhunderts gewesen ist. Im Auftrag der englischen Krone entdeckte er verschiedene Gegenden in Neufundland, Kanada. Seine Reisen startete er vom Hafen in Bristol aus. Dieser war zur damaligen Zeit der zweitgrößte Hafen Englands. Eine Replik seines Schiffs "The Matthew" kann man im Hafen besichtigen.

The Park has a cool playground which the kids had all to themselves that day
